*awkward wave*
Okay. Yes. It's been a while.
Oh my. Yes. Quite a while.
I have now *officially* begun my SENIOR year of high school!
[insert extreme excitement]
{please ignore the costume in the background of the picture with a bustle so gracefully slung across the hanger}
I am entirely chuffed to have arrived upon this monumental year. (And by the way, chuffed is a British slang word that means delighted. I rather like it.)
Senior years entails finality. Accomplishment. Hard work. Dedication. Steadfastness. Growth.
It also entails the greatest parties/adventures/fun yet experienced in my sixteen years of life.
Can't forget that.
I intend to savor this year to the maximum. I plan in drink in every drop of it.
Oh. Yes.
Side note: an item that is absolutely essential to a successful senior year is tea.
I have prescribed three cups a day as my daily dose of "drink this and you'll be sane."
Another side note: your senior year may or may not bring about an unquenchable desire to research recipes in the wee hours of the morning and then try them out on your family members the next day.
Every single day since the beginning of September, I've begun a conversation with my mother by saying, "I found this yummy recipe for *delicious sounding food*. We should try it!"
She bears with it enormously well.
This Saturday (being a cold and bleary one) was hot potato soup and farmhouse biscuits. I was rather proud to have produced something other than cupcakes, muffins, or scones, which are my veryveryvery favorite things to make.
All in all, I'm quite pleased with the way my first month of seniorness is turning out.
The beginning of the month was a little tough, for no reason other than my sinful tendency toward laziness, in Spiritual matters, was clawing at my heart and trying (succesfully, I'm afraid to say) to put others things in place of my Bible reading and prayer time.
I'm sure you all know what it's like when your daily devotion with God has seemed to have gone flat...or when you fail to do it all.
I was introduced to the Harry Potter series this summer, and I, of course, fell in love with them. After watching all the movies in ONE week before the last one came out, I proceeded to read the whole series with gusto. And man, did I enjoy it.
Trouble was, I was content to let my Harry Potter reading time intrude on my Bible Study time.
But God, being the ever gracious and kind Father he is, opened my eyes to my sin and gave me the strength to fight back against my fleshly desires. And it made me feel a whole lot happier too.
(And by the way, I finished the last Harry Potter book two weeks ago, and am still stuck in Hogwarts land. I have no wish to return.)
Alrighty. Well, I really should head off to bed. Monday morning's going to come awfully fast.
May the God of peace be with you all!
Grace to you :)
